One’s name alone does not ensure that one will be truly grateful. Even if one’s parents have no faith, one can develop faith. Even if one lacks moral discipline, one can develop it. Even if one is not devout, one can become devout. Even if one does not understand the concepts of good and bad, merit and demerit, one can come to understand them.
These four aspects are foundational. Both women and men can fulfill the role of honoring their parents.
